Chris McArdle joins Spence, 3173 Ltd as Group Financial Controller. He is a seasoned finance professional with a strong background in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. He is a graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast, where he studied Business, and he is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
Chris brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. His responsibilities include overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation. His strengths lie in financial management, strategic planning, and providing insightful financial guidance to support business growth.
Chris began his career at Deloitte in Dublin, where he completed his professional accountancy exams and specialised in Financial Service Audit, working with large Irish banks and investment funds. After moving back to Belfast, he continued his career in the Big 4, serving a diverse range of clients across Ireland and the UK.
Chris then transitioned to the non-profit sector as Finance Operations Manager for a large charity, gaining invaluable experience over five years. This role allowed him to lead the organisation financially and contribute significantly to its strategic and long-term goals. He later became Head of Finance at a family-run business, overseeing a group of commercial companies and investment portfolios for five years before joining 3173 Ltd.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife, engaging in activities such as walking, dining out, and traveling. He has a keen interest in competitive sports and regularly plays golf and football. Chris is also dedicated to voluntary work, supporting local businesses and groups as a finance representative on their boards. He is actively involved with a local mental health charity, a local LGBTQIA+ football team, and serves as the Finance Officer for an Irish League football club.
