About the role
The Scheme Actuary will provide actuarial services to clients with regard to pension schemes building our presence and exposure across the UK. Providing strategic leadership and direction within the actuarial practice as a senior advisor, and becoming the Scheme Actuary to a number of schemes.
The role will provide senior peer review and support the development of less experienced colleagues, providing on the job training and exposure to a range of tasks. They will provide advice and mentor/coach colleagues to deliver high quality work and to progress through actuarial studies towards qualification.
The role will attend and contribute at client/trustee meetings, workflow meetings, team meetings and ad-hoc meetings with various internal and external individuals and other parties in order to meet responsibilities of the role
Requirement to represent the business externally and seek to extend professional network and win clients.
Provision of review and the continuous improvement of the business areas to enhance effectiveness/efficiency and evolution of the business.
Development of general business/finance awareness and keeping abreast of key developments within the actuarial/pension world and general economic and business environment. Keep up to date with legislative changes and requirements’, ensuring documentation and activity is aligned.
The role holder will be required to travel across the United Kingdom to attend internal and externally meetings.
- It is essential that the candidate holds and maintains Scheme Actuary Practicing Certificate and holds and maintains Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- Experience of holding recent client book of Scheme Actuary appointments
- Broad industry background, actuarial and pension practice exposure post qualification
- Experience of delivery regulated investment advice to clients of Defined Benefit pension schemes would be a significant advantage
- Extensive understanding of pension scheme accounting, company financials, valuation of covenants, The Pensions Regulator (tPR), the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) guidance, processes and procedures.

37.5 hour week: Monday – Friday
Location – Based at any of our seven UK office locations (Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester)
There is a six month probationary period from commencement of employment.
