Ciaran Harris

Ciaran entered the pensions industry (through joining Spence) in 2015 upon graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Edinburgh. After joining Spence, he worked through the actuarial exams and subsequently qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2019.

In his time at Spence, Ciaran has amassed considerable experience in providing support to Scheme Actuaries in respect of funding advice to trustee clients. This has been supplemented by a growing exposure to presenting results to clients himself.

Further to this, Ciaran regularly works on company accounting disclosures as well as on investment-related aspects of defined-benefit pension schemes funding. In particular, he has experience with managing asset transitions, asset-liability modelling and monitoring investment performance of clients’ asset strategies.

He is particularly interested in the technical aspects of his role and is often involved in the detailed testing of the setup of clients’ benefits structures on our software system Mantle. Having said that, he regularly seeks out presenting opportunities, where he draws on his experience from recent membership of a public-speaking society.
