Spence & Partners Ltd (Spence) are recruiting for our 2018 intake of placement students. We recruit the best individuals with the potential to be the future influencers in our business. We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn from our team and develop within a busy and successful organisation. Spence & Partners (Spence) was established in 2000 and is a privately owned UK firm of actuaries, pension consultants, pension scheme IT specialists and administrators. Spence has offices in, Belfast, Glasgow, Bristol, Manchester and London, and clients throughout the UK and Ireland.
We are part of an integrated group of companies that includes Dalriada Trustees Limited (Dalriada), a leading independent trustee, and Veratta Limited, a data management, information security, software development and IT support business also in the pensions and financial services industry.

Placement students are integral to our organisational structure and you will be inducted into specific projects within our company, working with experienced and respected industry professionals.

About the role
We can offer an Actuarial placement experience that is the first step in a high profile career, with many of our placement students wishing to return to continue working with us after Graduation.
Throughout your placement you will be exposed to the wide range of work we undertake. For example, you will work with the rest of the actuarial team in producing calculations for our Trustee and Corporate clients – valuing the benefits of individuals and pension schemes. You will also draft reports and other presentational material for issue to our clients.
• On track for 2:1 or above in a relevant degree.
• GCSE and A Level Maths Grade A or above
• Proven technical and academic ability illustrated through grades and achievements.
• Evidence of proactive extra curricular learning and engagement in chosen career path.
• An obvious interest in the industry in which we operate.
• Excellent knowledge of computerised systems e.g. Microsoft Office/Windows applications, in particular Excel.
• Relevant Work Experience.
• Attending events, seminars, self study to promote knowledge in area of interest.

Placement Salary: £15,000.
There is a three month probationary period from commencement of employment.
As part of the pre-hire process the successful candidate will be subject to reference checking security vetting.
Closing Date for the role: Friday 13th October 2017, shortlisted candidates must be available for interview on Tuesday & Wednesday 17th / 18th October 2017 in Belfast.
