Emer Cox BSc

Emer graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in July 2014 with a First Class Honours degree in Actuarial Science and Risk Management. As part of her course, Emer completed a 13 month placement with a well known life and pensions company in Dublin. Upon completion of her degree, she gained exemptions from the actuarial Core Technical subjects (CT) 1-8 and is now a member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries where she intends to progress through the professional actuarial examinations.

Emer joined Spence & Partners in September 2014 as Graduate Actuarial Trainee. Within this role, she is applying knowledge of actuarial concepts and skills acquired at university to tasks whilst sampling a diverse range of pensions work, encompassing both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes.

Since joining the team, Emer is gaining experience in a wide range of areas within the pensions sector incorporating Trustee, Employer and Not for Profit work. On a daily basis, her work centres upon completing actuarial valuations, producing various reports, preparing FRS17 disclosures and carrying out liability management exercises for clients. As an actuarial student at Spence and Partners, Emer has the opportunity to enhance her technical abilities and develop core actuarial competences on a daily basis whilst working in a challenging environment as part of a rapidly growing, innovative pension consulting firm.
